This investigation was based on asemic writing as a wordless method of mark making openly suggesting, but not representing, words and text. Students were asked to create two paintings as a diptych. They first wrote responses to two questions and those responses served as inspiration for the paintings that followed. The prompt questions were, What would I like to say or ask of my ancestors? What would I like to say or ask of my descendants?
